Minister: Rev Deborah Lucas
We are still going strong at Bransholme despite being depleted in numbers. Our average Sunday congregation now is about eleven but occasionally Sutton come to join us and that makes a big difference. We have started going to Sutton on the last Sunday in every month to join in with them.Everybody can’t get to Sutton as there is no bus service running through Sutton and the church is too far for most people to walk. Still we keep praying for something to happen and we will be able to get there.
We are keeping things going at Bransholme sometimes with a little help from outside. The Coffee Morning/Table Top sales are still doing as well as can be expected but the takings are a bit down due to lack of support with items for sale but we still attract our faithful customers, even if they only come for a bit of company and a chat. We have now got a Banner on the side of the church advertising it which has brought a few extra people in and some of them have said that they didn’t know we had a coffee morning and have asked if it is something new even though we have always put boards out every Tuesday morning except when it is too windy.
About six or seven of us enjoyed a sunny afternoon in East Park when the Songs of Praise was held there. It was good to join in with the circuit for this event. I don’t know where Lansford finds all his energy from!
At Harvest this year we invited Val Walker back to take the service and then we held a Lunch for Leprosy after the service which was very well attended and with the donations for lunch and the sale of produce after we were able to send £133.50 to the Leprosy Mission.
We are now getting ready for Christmas but before that we are having another Dine and View session on Monday December 3rd when we will be serving a Christmas lunch followed by a Christmas film. Invitations will be sent round the circuit but places are limited so if you want to come please book early. We are again having our usual Carols by Candlelight on Christmas Eve afternoon at 2.30 pm and anyone is welcome to join us. It will probably be your last chance of a rest before the Christmas season gets going in earnest.
We will be celebrating 44th anniversary in March 2019 when we have asked Lansford to take the service for us.
We will soon be having all the pot-holes filled in on our car park and a new surface put on so it will be better for cars coming in.
We wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a Blessed and Peaceful New Year.
